AJE Earring Challenge Reveal 10 and Memorial Day in Lewes

Flags for Heroes

I have returned to my small town of Lewes, Delaware.  I discovered  a new plan for Memorial Day weekend in place.  The Rehoboth Rotary Club and the City of Lewes, Delaware,  have partnered in a highly visible display of patriotism with its Flags For Heroes 2013 campaign. The Rotary has mounted  a display of hundreds of flags over the Memorial Day weekend. The flags are on the  front lawn of Cape Henlopen High School, along Kings Highway, over the Memorial Day weekend.  It is a grand display.

Yellow and Orange Stripped Earrings for sale in BayMoonDesign Etsy Shop
Fortunately, I made my earrings for Reveal 10 of the AJE Earring Challenge in Florida before I left for Lewes because I haven't made a piece of jewelry since returning.  I have been busy with getting ready for Memorial Day weekend.  I have a full house of people and cats here for food and the beach.  I have also been preparing for the Delaware by Hand Members Show .  This is the 4th year that the show has been held on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend in the gardens behind the Zwaanendael Museum in Lewes.

While in Florida I found some great beads for sale on the Artisan Whimsy website.  I was drawn to them by their rich color and then by their story.  These yellow and orange stripped ceramics are by Work of Our Hands Namibia whose mission is to provide hope and dignity for the unemployed through the creation of cottage industries which produce handicrafted products for local and international markets.  Another admirable partnership!

I paired the ceramics with carnelian beads just under the ear wires and copper for a warm boho look.  These earrings are available for purchase in my Etsy shop.

Orange Ceramics paired with Betel Nut Beads by BayMoonDesign
I used another pair of  ceramic beads with a hint of a brown by Work of Our Hands Namibia in my second pair of earrings for this reveal.   This time I paired the ceramics with natural betel nut beads and copper for a warm boho look.  These earrings sold in a flash at the 4th Delaware by Hands Members Show yesterday.

The 4th Delaware by Hands Members Show was well attended.  In attendance was a Gale Force wind and cool temperatures.  I wore my winter jacket and leather gloves.  What weather!  Needless to say there weren't a lot of folks on the beach, but the town is full of folks celebrating Memorial Day.

AJE Earring Challenge Continues for Me in Florida

Streets of South Beach, Florida Filled with Flowers this Spring

I am still creating a pair of earrings a week using artisan beads  for the AJE Earring Challenge.  The lovely flowers that are blooming all over the Florida are the inspiration for one pair of these earrings.

Pale Green Ivy Earrings Available in BayMoonDesign Etsy Shop

These are amethyst earrings with pale green ivy leaves on brass earwires. The amethyst swarovski crystals remind me of purple flowers that are in bloom by ivy. The handmade artisan ivy leaves are enameled on both sides.  Brass earwires and headpins are used. These are long earrings that are 2 inches from the curve at the top of the earwire.

I love purple and green together!

Orange BoHo Earrings by BayMoonDesign
I call these my Orange BoHo earrings. They are made with  orange ceramics with a hint of a brown design by Work of Our Hands Namibia.  This is a cottage industry whose mission is to provide hope and dignity for unemployed women in Namibia.  I love the rich deep color of these beads.  I paired the ceramics with natural betel nut beads and copper for a warm boho look.  These earrings along with other pieces of my jewelry and hanmade cards will be for sale at the Delaware By Hand Members’ Day Show
Date: Saturday, May 25
Time: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Location: Zwaanendael Park, Lewes, Delaware
Price: Free, All Ages

Delaware By Hands Artists and Artisans will host the 8th Annual Outdoor Show in Lewes the Zwaanendael Park. A wide array of unique and original artwork will be for sale.  If you are in the area, please stop by and say hello.  What a great way to start the summer!

I am excited to see the reaction at this show to my spring line of jewelry that I made in Florida.    My focus has been on the gorgeous nature all around here in Key Largo, Florida for the past five months.  I think that my jewelry shows this and will be a great fit for the Lewes Beach area.

I will miss my snorkeling trips to the beautiful and healthy reef here but I am looking forward to seeing my historic town by the sea, Lewes, Delaware.

I love seeing scuba divers below me and watching their bubbles float up.

We Have a Winner of Blueberribead's Bird

The winner of this cute little bird is Gale White
I won these 3 darling bird beads by Blueberribeads.  I  decided to share 2 of them.

Jayne's Bracelet

I gave one to my Bead Soup Blog Hop partner Jayne Capps.  She made a very sweet bracelet with it. I am giving the second one away to Gale White who won a random drawing for it.   I can't wait to see what she does with it.
Pink Bird Necklace Is Available in BayMoonDesign  Etsy Shop
Of course,  I kept 1 for myself and I made it into a necklace that is  in my Etsy shopThis pastel pink bird pendant necklace is feminine looking and such fun! In addition to the bird, the necklace features handmade chunky ceramic pale pink nuggets on hand dyed rose silk ribbon. There are some great details on the necklace. The artisan ceramic bird has a feather, flower, leaf suspended from it. The silver Trinity brass clasp is strung with tiny pink seed beads. The nature theme is continued with a leaf shaped clasp and pink czech flowers attached to the rose fairy ribbon.

The early spring blossoms and birds are the inspiration for this necklace. It looks cute with a casual spring or summer outfit and makes a wonderful gift for someone who loves the prettiness of pink and nature.  This necklace would make a very cute Mother's Day gift.

If you are looking for a handmade artisan Mother's Day gift for May 12,  please stop by my Etsy shop. From now to May 11, I am offering 12% off orders of $20 or more.  Just use the code MOM12.
