Meet the Winners of Bay Moon Design Giveaways

My 2 giveaways have been won by 2 creative followers of my Bay Moon Design blog.  Kashmira Patel has won Marsha Neal's "Down by the River Silks".  Kashmira donates some of her  proceeds from her beautiful jewelry to the children of Project Why.  Project Why is a New Delhi (India) based non-profit organization engaged in education support and life skill enhancement of slum children and their families.

Kashmira has a wonderful blog called Sadafulee...Always in Bloom.   Sadafulee is the name brand of her jewelry.  SADAFULI, vinca rosea or Periwinkle is a happy-go-lucky small shrub. It cares not for the world. It rejoices in sun or rain, or the seaside, in good or indifferent soil and often grows wild. She says,  "I hope I can help the children bloom, just like the Sadafulee!"
Nina Designs Deer Hide used in Bay Moon Design Necklace

Lisa Lodge of Pine Ridge Treasures   is the winner of the Nina Designs Deer Hide.  I know she will enjoy using it as much as I did.  Lisa is a self taught jewelry artist and bead lover.  Lisa shares my  love of nature and the ocean.  She incorporates nature into her designs, especially ocean colors. Her work has been published in Bead Trends magazine, and is sold on-line.

Congrats to both!

Nina Designs Deer Hide Leather Cord

I have 2 going on right now.  One is  for 60 inches of Nina Designs gorgeous deer hide leather cord.  If I hadn't been sent this as a sample, I may never have tried this cord.  This is a great opportunity for some lucky beader to see how easy it is to use in addition to seeing how pretty in is.
Silk Ribbons by Marsha  Neal Studio
My second giveaway is for a dozen of Marsha Neal's gorgeous silk ribbons in "my" color palette "Down by the River".

New Nina Designs Components

Lotus Flower Necklace with Romantic Infinity Symbol by Bay Moon Design

I am excited  to be selected this month to participate in Nina Designs' Blog Partner program.  She sent me a selection of products to work with, and when they arrived, I was thrilled (and challenged!).  All of the metal components that I received are golden natural bronze. These components are a challenge for me because I don't do a lot with gold metals.  I also received some ribbons and deer hide leather. I never used deer hide leather before.

I'm excited to show you my creations!  For my first creation I selected a Nina Designs Lotus Pendant, 2 infinity links,  a few spacers, and gorgeous aqua silk ribbon from the goodies that I was sent.  I really wanted to do justice to the lovely lotus flower.  Most of the inspirations for my jewelry come from nature so using  one of the most delicate and beautiful flowers of mother nature is a good fit for me .  Although lotus grows in muddy water, it grows beautiful and brings a smile on anyone's face who sees it. The lotus has long been associated with purity, rebirth and beauty. I paired it with infinity links because the shape is classic, fluid, and romantic all at the same time.  Aqua is a beautiful and peaceful color so I selected the aqua silk ribbon for this piece.  I think that this is a very romantic necklace.

Ceramic Owl Necklace Paired with Fushia Fairy Ribbon by Bay Moon Design
My next design uses a very cute, pinkish purple ceramic owl paired with neutral colored ceramic and wood beads and gold clasp. I added a Nina Designs fushia fairy ribbon to give a pop of color and showcase the lovely glaze on the one of a kind ceramic owl focal. Nina Designs silk and fairy ribbons come in so many colors that it is easy to get one in the color that is perfect for your design.

Fresh Contemporary Golden Bronze Earrings by Bay Moon Design

I love wearing and making earrings.  If I only have 1 piece of jewelry on, it will be a pair of earrings.  These earrings were quick and easy to make.  I used Nina Designs small bronze bubble links and earring findings.  I added a jump ring to attach the two components.  It is that easy.   They have such a fresh and contemporary look.  They are my new, favorite earrings that I will have to hide from my daughter.  Sorry, Christina!

I left the stone blue deer hide leather cord for last since I had never used it before.  I was really surprised at how soft it is.  It is very easy to knot. I admit to prowling around on the Nina Designs website for some ideas and instruction on how to use it. The Nina Designs website offers lots of photos, how-to movies and design tips.
Deer Hide Leather Necklace and Bracelet by Bay Moon Design

I happened to have the silver components and focal on hand to make the necklace. I have had that focal for several years and when I saw the color of the deer leather I knew the time had come to use it.  The colors work so well together!

I used some  bronze spacers I had on hand to see how the deer hide leather cord looks paired with bronze.  I have to say that I like the look of the bronze.  I love the deer hide cord and I plan to use it more now that I have seen how lovely it is.

I find trying something new to me, gives me more options for design.  I have another focal that I could never figure out how to use.  I plan to pair with deer hide leather now that I have used it.  The two will go so well together!  I still have lots of this stone blue cord left.  Would you like a chance to win some of this cord.  I am giving away 60 inches of it.  Anyone who comments on my blog can earn 1 entry to a drawing for this stone blue cord.  Following my blog earns another entry.  A third entry can be made by posting a comment with a link to a social media site like twitter, facebook etc. in a comment on my blog.

I love Nina Designs philosophy and appreciated that she is "fair trade ".   Her designs are unique and fresh and each bead or finding makes your piece extra-special.

Bead Soup Blog Party 3 Begins with Lots of Ingredients

My Soup sent to me by Hannah Annear

When I first opened my package from Hannah Annear of Cornwall, England, I found such variety and quantity of beads that I was overwhelmed.  I decided to focus on selecting the clasp and focal to use.  We are required to use a focal and a clasp from the mix.  Everything else is optional.

Brown and Blue Polka Dot Necklace by Bay Moon Design

I zeroed in on the large brown focal bead and huge heart shaped clasp.  Determined not to buy anything else, I rummaged through my bead collection and found a set of wonderful blue and brown polka dot lampwork beads that I had squirreled away for several years.  I also located a Marsha Neal Studio Silk Ribbon and Fairy Ribbon in complimentary shades of brown and a few wooden beads for the ends of the ribbon.  All I had to do is some wire wrapping and I was all done!

Pastel Rabbit Necklace by Bay Moon Design

Hannah sent me 3 silver components that all matched.  I decided to put them into a necklace and use one of the cute pink flower beads that she sent.  From my stash I selected some large pastel beads.  I grabbed a silk ribbon that I had on hand that matched well and created a rabbit necklace that was inspired by my love of the wonderful book character Peter Rabbit.  I purchased the rabbit from Magpie Gemstones several years ago and I finally came up with a perfect home for him.

Multicolored Stripped Necklace by Bay Moon Design

When I spotted the pastel blue, purple, yellow, and pink stripped ceramic beads I knew that I had to do something with them.  Realizing that they had larger than usual holes, I thought that this might me an opportunity to use silk ribbon.   I went through my collection of Marsha Neal Studio ribbons and spotted one that was the same color as a button that I had on my jewelry table.  What luck!  I added some pretty pink peanut beads that I had on hand.   The rest was easy.

Would you like to win some silk ribbons like the ones that I used in my 3 necklaces?

Of course these silks will be the "Down by the River" palette that I submitted for Marsha Neal Studio's  challenge.  Anyone who comments on my blog can earn 1 entry to a drawing for this palette of browns and greens.  Following my blog earns another entry. A third entry can be made by posting a comment with a link to a social media sight like twitter, facebook etc. in a comment on my blog.
A winner will be announced September 30. I am keeping the contest open until then to give all the bloggers who are in Lori Anderson's Bead Soup Blog Party a chance to enter when they read my blog about my beads and design.

A big shout out to Lori Anderson for putting together this Bead Soup Blog Party!  Please visit all of the participants in this third and final blog party.   A big thank you to my partner Hannah who gave me these great ingredients.  I still have lots more left to stash away for the perfect time to use them.  I believe that there is a zen to beading.  I wait until all of the ingredients come together on their own and I just need to string or wire them.  Good excuse for bead hoarding!

Please visit the other participant.  Comments are welcome!
