Who doesn't love color especially in the dead of the winter? This month's "We're All Ears" Inspiration is a series of watercolor
illustrations paired with fresh flowers. I think these are just perfect for Valentine's Day too. Malaysian artist and photographer Lim Zhi Wei
(a.k.a Limzy) is the creator of these whimsical flower girls.
For 2015, Limzy created a very limited run of a calendar of her Flowergirls.
We were given a whole garden of the
flower girls for our inspiration. I picked this gorgeous pinky purple part of the flower girl above.
I always find it hard to locate pink and sometimes purple beads that I am happy with so I decided to make my own. I got out my Vintaj brass flowers and Ranger paints and when to town creating these earrings. I added some pretty pink peanut beads and ear wires. When the
long pink earrings were done I put a sealant on them. I think that they capture the colors, flowers, and beauty of the inspiration piece. What do you think?

Beautiful earrings! I love the color. Like you, I have a hard time finding pink and purple beads that I like. I've used them all up and dreading the long search.

ReplyDeleteThey turned out beautifully! Using the Vintaj pieces and custom painting them was a great choice for this challenge. The peanut beads add just the right amount of pink and sparkle.

I love these components! I really thought you were going to tell me that you enameled them... they really look like that! This is a very modern interpretation of a flower petal and I love it.
