Bead Soup Swap Reveal

The Bead Soup Swap & Create is sponsored by Lori Anderson. I appreciate the time that Lori spent organizing and setting up this swap and reveal. In a previous blog I introduced my partner for the swap-- artist Bee Kuhlman from Fort Worth, Texas. She is a digital artist, traditional painter, and tinkerer. Bee specializes in creating colorful illustrations as well as jewelry. She is also a colorful character. I love that during the swap she dyed her hair purple.  I adore purple and several other friends of mine have or have had purple hair. Kudos to Bee!

As soon as I saw a geode in the mix I knew that would the focal that I would use. I also decided that I would love to take the big and gorgeous crystals and some of the tiny crystals that she sent me and make a long chain necklace. I spotted an antique brass clasp in the mix so I selected an antique brass chain that I had on hand as well as some antique brass wire.  I now have designed a necklace with the three requirements of this reveal.  I used some of the beads, a focal, and a clasp that I was sent.

I have a collection of geodes around my home because I am very fond of them.  If you are wondering what a geode is they are rocks that are hollow inside, rather than solid all the way through. Geodes are generally round, though some are egg-shaped. They range from the size of a nut to several feet. Most geodes are about the size of a basketball. When broken or cut open, geodes reveal a lining of crystals or other materials inside. These crystals can be quite beautiful.

Art Elements Theme Challenge Theme Is Spring

The Art Elements Theme Challenge  is open to any medium and you are welcome to share your creations in the designated album on the Art Elements Community Facebook Page or your blog anytime during the month.  The theme for March is Spring.  In Delaware we are all anxiously awaiting beautiful weather.  This winter has been very wet, dam, and cold in the Middle Atlantic states.  Fortunately, most of the wet in my part of the state has been rain rather than snow and ice.  I shouldn't complain because many folks got lots of snow-- but who doesn't complain about the weather.

Nature always inspires me. When I focus on spring, I think of florals. I am starting to see daffodils and crocus in bloom in my yard and that puts a smile on my face. I also associate spring with the color green. Spring is the time of the year in Delaware when the grass, flowers and trees start to green. We will see a wide variety in the shades of green and they will be their freshest and most vibrant colors.

I put a lovely floral design on the front of this greeting card.   The variety of shades of green on this paper remind me of spring. The card has a white rose on top of the first layer of the paper which is on top of green card stock.  The sentiment  "Happy Birthday is hand stamped on the front of the card. The inside is blank and there is room for a personal note.
