Looking for Members of Artisan Whimsy to Do a Patina Blog Hop

Compass Looking for Patina and a Creative Plan for It

I am giving away a 26mm (.6mm thick), Arte Metal, Compass Decorivet with two posterior prongs. It can be used to decorate any material by simply pushing the rivet ends into your material and folding over. Also, you can use needle nose pliers to turn the rivet points into loops for use in jewelry designs. Vintaj Arte Metal is a ferrite (iron) based metal. It is not antique plated and is nickel and lead-free.

Would you like to be one of the 9 that I send this compass to?  I would like to get a commitment by Jan. 10 from folks to participate. The blog hop is Feb. 28. I have my 1 international participant so far.  My hope is that everyone who joins this challenge is a member of Artisan Whimsy and has an active blog.

You don't have to have a lot of experience with patina.  I don't have a lot.   I have 6 bottles of Ranger Patina and a have bought metal to patina with the plan to produce some jewelry with it. There are other brands of patina on the market also with resources.   Some folks even make their own.  The Vintaj website has lots of resources you can use as does the  Ranger  website. You can also do an Internet search for "videos on patina" and find lots of them.

If you are interested, please email me with your mailing address, blog URL, and email address. My email is baymoondesign@gmail.com.

January 10, I will blog  the names of the participants and  post the blog hop badge.

BayMoonDesign Features Ceramics by JeraLunaDesigns in AJE Earring Challenge Reveal 23

Avocado green ceramic earrings by BayMoonDesign

For AJE Earring Challenge Reveal 23, BayMoonDesign used ceramics by JeraLunaDesigns

These avocado green ceramic earrings are earthy looking with dots on one side and swirls on the other. I love the avocado glaze which has hints of brown. Pairing the ceramics with natural brass wires gives the earrings a rustic look. I also paired the ceramics with glass pearls that are the same color.

Earthy Buddha Earrings available in BayMoonDesign Etsy shop
These are earthy brown ceramic Buddha figure earrings. These earrings were made from headpins that had a 3 inch tail on them that JeraLunaDesigns made.  I added the top bead and some wire wrapping.   The ear wires are natural brass by Vintaj.  I love that Buddha has lots of detail.  These earrings make a nice addition to my yoga jewelry section of jewelry in my BayMoonDesign shop.

Creative Spark Highlights Designs with Pearls and Has a Giveaway

Super cute reindeer earrings for sale at BayMoonDesign Etsy store
The Winter 2013-2014 issue of Creative Spark is now out!  This online magazine has over a hundred designs from members of the  ZnetShows design team who were given the 'challenge' of using pearls for this issue. I am proud to say that I am one of the design team.  The reindeer earrings I created have a couple of their pearls in them.  I created a pearl and crystal necklace, bracelet, and earrings for my daughter's Christmas parties. The necklace shows off ZnetShows pearls and crystals well don't you think?

Custom necklace by BayMoonDesign

There are four tutorials, a list of unique ways to sell your jewelry, peeks into  creative spaces of design team members, and more.  If you love jewelry, you will want to take a look at the magazine.
There is a GIVEAWAY of some ZnetShows beads and components for those who share Creative Spark in some way. It's easy to do too. Once the Glossi loads, there are buttons on the right of it to share on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, G+, and Pinterest.   It takes awhile to load because it is such a large magazine, so be patient because it is worth the wait.  There is lots to enjoy!  Share Creative Spark on Social Media  and leave a comment BELOW THE GLOSSI .  Make sure to let ZnetShows know where you shared it (a link to your share would be great) and how to reach you (your e-mail) and you're entered for the Giveaway.   The giveaway will be open through the rest of this year!

Read this terrific magazine and get some Creative Spark!

Art Bead Scene December Challege Offers Many Color Choices

Just as color plays a major role in Kandinsky’s Winter Landscape which is December's Art Bead Scene Challenge, colors plays an important role in the bracelet that it inspired.  In addition to the  extreme color contrasts and vertical and horizontal lines in this painting, the ceramic bar by JeraLunaDesigns  has lots of lines that can be vertical or horizonal depending on how you look at them.

Kandinsky’s Winter Landscape and Brandi Hussey's color palette

Winter Landscape has colors in it that people wouldn't normally associate with December or winter. Instead of reds and greens, or only cool shades of blue, we have a mix of soft pastels and bold hues.  Once again, I waited until Brandi Hussey gave her readers a look at the color palette she found in the painting.
This colorful sunburst bracelet has a handmade porcelain bar that sits on top of the wrist. The handmade bracelet bar is made from porcelain clay and glazed in blue, pink, amber and green by JeraLunaDesigns. I added deep purple and green beads, glass pearls, and crystals to the 2 strands that are attached to the bar with green seed beads. I also used gold beads and clasp to play on the yellow in sun on the porcelain.   The gold also adds warmth and sparkle.

This cuff bracelet reminds me of the winter sun.

Christmas Ornament Blog Hop

Merry Owl Ornaments by BayMoonDesign

Back in November, I signed up for an Ornament Blog Hop. There were really only 2 requirements.1. Create an ornament using handmade components or art beads.   December 12th post your ornament on your blog. Between then and now, I read a wonderful tutorial by Heather Powers on her blog called Merry Little Owl Ornament Tutorial .  When looking over what is needed for these very cute owls,  I realized that I had everything.  I have been promising myself that I would work more with polymer clay.  Also, I had planned on making my daughter an owl ornament for Christmas.  She loves owls.  I gathered all of my supplies and set up an area in my laundry room to work.  I am very pleased at the results.  Heather's directions are excellent.  Which is your favorite owl?

Christmas Tree Ornament by BayMoonDesign

I am also trying to improve my skills with metal so I challenged myself to make an ornament with metal.  My Christmas tree ornament is the result.

I created a digital magazine to share my holiday jewelry, cards, recipes, photos, and poems.  I hope that you will take a few moments to enjoy it and perhaps do some last minute shopping.

If you need any last minute gifts or cards, my online store is offering free gift wrapping and handmade gift tags.
Happy Holidays to all!

AJE Reveal 23 Features Rustic Looking Ceramics by Marsha Neal Studio

Christmas Red Earrings available at BayMoonDesign online store

For this AJE Earring Challenge Reveal 23, I am featuring Marsha Neal Studio ceramics with a rustic look.  These brown and red ceramic earrings are earthy and rustic looking. They're ideal for winter with the warm tones of red and chocolate brown.  They dangle from antique copper, kidney shaped ear wires and are light and comfortable to wear. The antique copper ear wires go great with the colors in the ceramics and the copper beads.
Rustic Teal Blue Earrings by BayMoonDesign
The second pair that I made have rustic looking, teal blue and brown ceramics.  I combined them with round beads with the same colors and antique copper kidney ear wires. The antique copper kidney ear wires go great with the colors in the ceramics and give the earrings an earthy look. Simple, lovely, go with anything earrings.

Either pair would be a perfect gift for someone who appreciates handmade artisan jewelry.
Right now orders from my BayMoonDesign Etsy shop are ready to ship and arrive gift wrapped with gift tags.

I am participating in the First Friday Art Walk Weekend. Sun. Dec.8 is the last day to take advantage of my offering free US shipping for orders of $20 or more for First Friday Art Walk Weekend with code FREE US.  Consider purchasing wearable art!
 Happy Holiday shopping!

I Love Clay 2013 Blog Hop and 2014 Heart Ball

Ceramic Pendant  is by Southern Gal Designs

I received the aqua heart from Lisa Lodge for the "I Love Clay Blog Hop".  I have to admit that I spent more time thinking about what I wanted to do with this pendant than I did making the necklace.  I really struggled with the color and the placement of the holes.  I have a lot of blue beads because I seldom use them so I had a wide variety to select from to create a necklace.  It really wasn't until I read a blog that had a color palette with this shade of aqua that I started thinking about combining the aqua with dark blue pearls.
BayMoonDesign Heart Necklace
I then decided to use some seed beads that had blue and green in them to create a connection with beading wire and a crimp bead from the holes of the focal heart to back to the beading wire.  I also used these seed beads on either side of the silver beads to add sparkle and pull the colors together.

At the same time I was working on this piece I was asked to donate a handmade item to the 2014 Heart Ball will be held at the Chase Riverfront Center, Wilmington, Delaware, on Saturday March 1st for the Live and Silent auctions. I decided this necklace would be perfect for this American Heart Association event. What do you think?

Thank you Lisa for sending me this focal and organizing this blog hop. Please visit Lisa and the other participants. We love it when you leave a comment!
