Bead Soup Update --Party Day March 3 Approaches

Rose Binoya's Beads Selected by Use for BayMoonDesign creations
Before I left for a vacation in the Dominican Republic, I had selected these beads, focals, and clasp for use in my jewelry that I am creating for the Bead Soup Blog Party sponsored by Lori Anderson.  You can follow Lori who is a wonderful jewelry artist on her  Pretty Things blog.  The idea of the blog party is to pair two beaders up and exchange beads.  The purpose is to help you think outside the box and work outside your normal comfort zone, pushing you into creative directions you may never have gone. You can make one piece, two, three -- you can use the clasp in one piece and focal in another. LOTS to be creative with!  I will be taking a picture of my creations and posting them on my blog March 3 so mark your calendar.  March 3 all of the beaders who are participating will do the same on   the Party day.  I can't wait to see what My party partner is  Rose Binoya does with what I sent her. March 3 she will post on her  blog what she creates with my focal, findings, and beads that I sent her.   March 3  everyone hops around to as many Party Blogs as possible to see what everyone made on Party Day!
While I was on vacation, I devoted time to thinking about the green and lavender necklace that I planned to make.  I even sketched out a picture since I didn't take the beads with me.  When I got home and started to put together the beads, I decided that even though I love those two colors together, I didn't see this single necklace coming together they way I planned.  I revisited to beads and decided to look at the green beads.  I know I would use Rose's handmade and gorgeous clasp and I really wanted to use the pale green and large white and green shell as a focal.  While in the DR I was surrounded by greens there since it is their Spring and rainy season.

Every morning when I woke up, I looked out the window and saw the lush green vegetation.  Even the mountain in the distance was covered in many different shades of green.
This turtle basking in the sun is another example of the different colors of green that are found in nature.  Green happens to be one of my favorite colors so I decided that this necklace would blend many of the various shades of green.  I also have a large stash of green beads that work well with what Rose sent me.  I completed that necklace and I am happy with it.

Large Lavender Shell Focal

After reading Rose's blog, I felt she was challenging me to use the large lavender shell beads that she sent as a focal.  I love that bead and I am convinced it will make a great focal.  A person challenge of my own is to use beads and findings from my large stash and not to buy anything new for this bead blog party!  Mark your calenders for March 3 and see how I do!

  1. I LOVE purple and green together. Reminds me of our favorite special tulips we grew at our old house.
