Bead Soup sent to Jayne Capps AKA Boot~C from BayMoonDesign

 The second bird went to Jayne Capps to be used as a focal for Lori Anderson's Bead Soup Blog 7.  I can't wait to see what she creates.  She only has to use the bird as a focal and the leaf clasp.

Where is the 3rd?  I kept it for myself of course!

I am very excited about the package that my partner Jayne Capps sent me for the Bead Soup Blog Hop 7.  When I opened it I found a personal note from her and 3 cute little envelopes.  Inside each envelope she carefully wrapped different ingredients for the "soup".  She sent 2 focal, a clasp with hints of turquoise, turquoise, citrine, and African trade beads.  I can't wait to create with this mix.  I don't know what I will make but I am thinking that I may use some Irish Waxed Linen thread.  Time will tell!

Long Red Necklace is available in Bay Moon Design Etsy Shop

This earthy, long red necklace is 26 inches (66 cm) long not including the focal which hangs 1" long. The necklace black and taupe ceramic beads  by Marsha Neal Studio and ceramic focal by PajegoArtHouse. The focal is an ancient pathway ceramic made out of earthenware ceramic clay which has been stamped on the top and glazed on all sides. I also used an eclectic mix of gray, taupe, and red beads many of which are wood.  I included  carnelian beads which have a lovely reddish brown color. They are are strung and knotted on Irish waxed linen thread in a matching rust color.  I recently won this Irish Waxed Linen from Rebecca Anderson .  The thread just happened to match the oriental focal in color perfectly.  A lovely bronze chain and clasp make all the colors pop. It  also gives an earthy feel and rustic look.

The necklace is inspired this month's Art Bead Scene Blog Challenge  artwork, Heijinja by Toshi Yoshida.  I must admit that I was really put off at first.  Red isn't one of my favorite colors to work with.  In fact, I have very few red beads.  It wasn't until I looked at this color palette by Brandi Hussey that I started to form some ideas.  I went through my gray, taupe, and rust colored beads to select what I might use.  When I  spotted the gorgeous oriental focal by PajegoArtHouse , I knew I had to get that as the focal.  Having the color palette by Brandi Hussey along with the artwork inspired this necklace.

AJE Earring Challenge Reveal 3

Purple Earring with Flowers and ceramics by D7 Studio

It is hard to believe that this is AJE Earring Challenge Reveal 3.  I am still hanging in there by creating a pair of earrings a week that use a handmade artisan component.  My first pair are purple earrings with artisan ceramics and flowers with sparkly swarovski crystals. They dangle 1.5 inches (3.81 cm) below earwires.  They can be found in my Etsy store.

I love the lavender and pinks in the flowers. I added a tiny green bead to each flower to make the flower more natural looking. Each flower has a clear swarovski crystal to catch the light. I used gunmetal earwires and headpins because I love how gray looks with purple. I also used some silver spacers to add some sparkle.

The ceramics are made by D7 Studio.

The second pair of earrings have a nautical look with blue ceramic anchors made by  Suburban Girl Studio.  I paired them with a shinny, white quartz bead to add some pop to them. I used gunmetal earwires and headpins to give them a rustic look. I also used gunmetal spacers to add some additional color. I think that the gray color of the gunmetal works well with the blue.  They dangle 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) below earwires.   

Sea and Sand Blog Hop Ingredients

There are several blog hops coming up in March.   Please stop by March 9 to see what I create from the Sea and Sand Ingredients sent to me by Lisa Lodge.  Some of the participants got beads that looked like sand.  I feel my beads had the call of the sea and I am going totally in that direction.  

Following Lisa's blog hop, Lori Anderson's blog hop has its first reveal on March 30.  I am anxiously awaiting my ingredients for this blog.  

AJE Earring Reveal 2

 
This is the  2nd reveal of the Earring Challenge sponsored by the The Art Jewelry Elements team. AJE is sponsoring a year-long Earring Challenge in 2013. They are challenging artisans to create one pair of earrings a week.  All earring designs have to feature at least one artisan component, such as a handmade charm or bead.  For this reveal I created crescent moon earrings in a beautiful blue green color.   They are also made with artisan ceramics by Marsha Neal Studio.  They dangle 2 inches below the gold chain are light and comfortable to wear. I think that they have an earthy appearance to them. Simple, lovely, casual earrings!

I love the line curls in the ceramic. They add rich detail. Also, the blue green glaze that was used in them reminds me of water. I love to use materials that remind me of elements from nature. These earrings have two elements from nature --the moon and water.

 

My earrings will be featured in a magazine!

I am excited to say that I have removed the photo of my second pair of earrings and replaced it with a photo of some magazines because I just found out that the earrings were selected by a major beading magazine for the July 2013 issue.  SO HAPPY!  All I will say about these earrings is that they also have components made in by the Marsha Neal Studio.


For the next reveal on Feb. 9 I plan using  components from D7 Studio for one pair and components from Suburban Girl Studio for the second pair of earrings. Stop by then to see if I meet the challenge for 2 more pairs of earrings by then.

Lucite and Bead Blog Hop Reveal

Purple Bracelet Listed in my  Etsy Store.

I decided that the beautiful floral bead might be lost in a necklace so I decided to make a bracelet with lots of lucite floral and leaf dangles.  I used brass to wire wrap the links of the bracelet and brass headpins to wire wrap the dangles. I also decided that this bracelet called for a dainty floral clasp.  It is hard to go wrong when you are inspired by sure a gorgeous art bead.
