I Love Clay 2013 Blog Hop and 2014 Heart Ball

Ceramic Pendant  is by Southern Gal Designs

I received the aqua heart from Lisa Lodge for the "I Love Clay Blog Hop".  I have to admit that I spent more time thinking about what I wanted to do with this pendant than I did making the necklace.  I really struggled with the color and the placement of the holes.  I have a lot of blue beads because I seldom use them so I had a wide variety to select from to create a necklace.  It really wasn't until I read a blog that had a color palette with this shade of aqua that I started thinking about combining the aqua with dark blue pearls.

I then decided to use some seed beads that had blue and green in them to create a connection with beading wire and a crimp bead from the holes of the focal heart to back to the beading wire.  I also used these seed beads on either side of the silver beads to add sparkle and pull the colors together.

At the same time I was working on this piece I was asked to donate a handmade item to the 2014 Heart Ball will be held at the Chase Riverfront Center, Wilmington, Delaware, on Saturday March 1st for the Live and Silent auctions. I decided this necklace would be perfect for this American Heart Association event. What do you think?

Thank you Lisa for sending me this focal and organizing this blog hop. Please visit Lisa and the other participants. We love it when you leave a comment!
